How It Works
INSTRUCTIONS
Two phases to your result
The FOBU test can be performed at home in a few simple steps. Follow the official instructions for use.
Phase 1 – Collect the sample
- 1Put on the gloves.
- 2Collect a small amount of stool using the included stool collection aid.
- 3Open the sample collection tube containing the extraction buffer.
- 4Transfer the stool sample from the collection aid into the tube.
- 5Close the tube and shake it thoroughly to homogenise the sample.
Phase 2 – Perform the test
- 1Remove the test strip from its protective cover and place it flat on an even surface.
- 2Unscrew the cap of the sample tube.
- 3Discard the first two drops (do not add these to the cassette).
- 4Add the next 3 drops of sample into the sample well (S) of the test cassette.
- 5Start the stopwatch.
- 6Read the result after 5–10 minutes.
- 7A result read after more than 15 minutes is invalid.
Reading the result
Positive2 coloured lines (C + T)
Two coloured lines appear — in the control zone (C) and the test zone (T). Even a faint T line counts as positive.
Consult a veterinarian — further examination is needed.
Negative1 coloured line (C only)
Only one coloured line appears in the control zone (C). No blood detected in stool.
Continue regular testing as part of preventive care.
InvalidNo C line
The control line (C) does not appear — the test is invalid.
Repeat the test with a new test cassette.
What to do after a positive result
A positive result means blood was detected in the stool. This is not a diagnosis, but an indication of possible gastrointestinal conditions (bleeding, ulcers, infections, polyps, tumours). Please consult a veterinarian within 48–72 hours. Diagnosis is made by the vet based on further examination.
Important notes on the method
- The test is a screening tool — not a replacement for veterinary diagnosis.
- The result must always be evaluated in the context of the animal's clinical condition.
- False positive or false negative results cannot be excluded.
- For use in dogs only.
